What is RARICANow

It was founded in 2017 to address the current issues in the queer community that are left untouched and ignored, with the hopes that one day all will be well preaching to the world that every single life matter regardless of the differences.

The mission of The RARICANow The Reason of Hope is to enhance and sustain the health and well-being of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and HIV communities by providing activities, programs and services that create community.Empower community members; provide essential resources; advocate for civil and human rights; and embrace, promote and support our cultural diversity.

Our Vision

To live in a world where LGBTIQ+, especially transgender refugees have support, feel safe, empowered, and dignified.

Our Mission

Coordination collaboration, and to build a social justice movement amongst transgender refugees at the local, provincial, national, and international levels to enhance the collective capacity to advocate for refugee’s rights and access to basic services. We promote equal rights, awareness, education, advocacy, and access to culturally relevant support services for transgender refugees. We value equity, integrity, humanity, social justice, and the trans community.

RaricaNow provides a supportive, empowering, and safe space for LGBTQI+ refugees and newcomers in Edmonton Alberta and as well as networking with others internationally to mobilize. LGBTQI+ refugees and newcomers have the opportunity to access the bi-weekly gathering, put on my Raricanow. It can be very helpful to refugees to remind them that they are not alone and that they have a chosen family and place

Refugees Status

Refugees who come to Canada have left their homes, and in many cases, they have had to live in refugee camps for many years. When they arrive in Canada, they have to start their lives over again. It becomes more complicated for the LGBTQI2 folks and that’s where Raricanow steps in to help.
